Obituary of Dr. Lilykutty Roy Varghese
Dr. Lillykutty Roy Varghese passed away peacefully on May 2nd at 2 pm, surrounded by her family. She was an associate professor of Pharmacology, at Trivandrum Medical College (1980-1997) and a life member of AKMG. She was the wife of Dr. Roy Varghese, a retired professor of Medicine and Infectious diseases at Trivandrum Medical College, who is currently practicing in Kentucky, USA.
After working close to 30 years at Trivandrum Medical College, she retired in 1997 and moved to Kentucky, USA to be with her husband and kids. She spent the rest 23 years of her life doing things that really made her happy- cooking, traveling, reading, and spending time with kids and grandkids. She was a gentle-hearted and kind human being, always encouraging others. Although she suffered ill health in the latter part of her life, she was a strong woman of faith and always greeted everyone with a warm smile and hug.
She is survived by her loving husband and four daughters and their families. Her husband, Dr. Roy Varghese works at Mary Breckenridge Hospital (ARH) in Hyden, Kentucky. Her oldest daughter Dr. Liza is a Rheumatologist. She is married to Dr. Isaac Thomas, who is a Nephrologist. They are settled in Cincinnati, OH with their kids David and Grace. Her second daughter Dr. Nisha (Endocrinologist) is settled in Louisville, KY with her husband (Dr. Arul– Anesthesiology) and daughter Sarah. Her third daughter is Dr. Linda who is a Pathologist living in Minneapolis, MN, with her husband Vinod (Engineer) and two boys Daniel and Joseph. Lilly's youngest daughter Asha Varghese (President, Caterpillar Foundation) is settled in Chicago, IL.
Lilly's amazing legacy of love, faith, kindness, and compassion will continue to live on through her children and grandchildren.
